The history of SPM (Società Benefit) is a journey that starts from an obsessive attention to detail. The company took its first steps in the Fashion world, specializing in the creation of security seals: a sector where aesthetics and millimeter perfection are not optional, but represent the very essence of the product.
From this aptitude for "beauty and excellence", SPM has been able to evolve towards monumental industrial challenges: Sport and, finally, Industry (Automotive), which today represents the beating heart and the largest slice of the company's turnover. This metamorphosis was fueled by a constant: the ability to courageously invest in technology and infrastructure.
Today, with over 70 years of history, more than 350 employees and a turnover of 40 million euros, SPM is a gentle giant designing the future fueling it with clean energy (80% daytime energy autonomy thanks to photovoltaics) and unshakable ethical values, as demonstrated by the Gender Equality Certification 2024. This is the solidity that supports every EMA project.

Superior Automation
Our flagship is the MAM (Modular Assembly Machine) project, the idea that takes automation to a higher level. Standardized platforms and ad hoc/customized modules. We design fully custom lines, robotic cells and advanced tooling.
Digitalization
We develop the factory's nervous system through advanced MES systems (Chronos) and ERP integrations. We implement Business Intelligence and LLM models for document process efficiency.
Vision and Physical AI
We bring "eyes" and "brain" to the workshop through the Anomaly Detection platform (NOVA). We integrate dedicated AI Agents (MARVIN) assisting the operator in real time.

This project represents one of the highest expressions of our ability to manage complex, multi-phase production cycles for new Aero Element inserts.
The Cell Architecture: The process is entrusted to an advanced robotic cell consisting of two high-performance industrial robots. These operate within a segregated secure cell, designed and built in compliance with the most rigorous international safety standards, guaranteeing operational speed and maximum operator protection.
The Operational Flow: the line manages the entire insert manufacturing process. It starts with molded parts with threaded inserts, later reworked by the same line to overmold a gasket. The cell loads the inserts into the press and unloads the semi-finished products; via the second robot, these are palletized into thermoformed trays, which the line stacks and provides to the operator ready for storage.
The Rework Cycle: in the second step, the line autonomously un-palletizes the loaded trays, retrieves the semi-finished parts for overmolding and proceeds to re-palletize the finished product.
In-Line Control Technologies: handling tools moving to the press integrate advanced control and measurement tech. High-resolution cameras analyze the integrity of the processing in real time, assuring total quality.
Digital Orchestration with Chronos: the line is interconnected with Chronos, which orchestrates production and analyzes process data. Through predictive logic, Chronos identifies anomalies before they become downtime and defines intervention strategies. Information transfers directly to the maintenance department, guiding technicians and providing real-time documentation.
From Automotive to Sport: the genesis of Chronos and the culture of total data management.
The Choice of Independence: After probing the market, we realized no external solution possessed the flexibility demanded by our vision. We took the most challenging path: internal development in partnership with sm2Care.
Human-ERP-Machine Synergy: We designed a system to create a dialog between Human, ERP, and Machine. The goal was to build a model capable of assisting people, guiding them in a completely digital operational flow.
Standards as Pillar: We come from a world where standards are the pillar of efficiency. We transferred this knowledge into our software architectures, creating a unique ecosystem that feeds decision-making.
Case C: MES for Sport: Versatility and WMS Integration
Modularity: thanks to its modular architecture, Chronos operates successfully in the Sports sector, adapting to non-repetitive flows opposite to those of Automotive.
WMS Evolution: this challenge prompted us to advance our WMS to the state of the art, bridging the needs of a sector balanced between internal production and commercialized goods.
Implementation Success: confirmed that Chronos governs complexity regardless of product or volume, guaranteeing absolute transparency and rapid commissioning.
Watch-like precision (+/- 0.05 mm) for a new emblem mounted on the Airbag cover.
Extreme Precision: we've created a fully automated line capable of assembling components with a +/- 0.05 mm precision. Accuracy standards comparable to luxury watchmaking.
Total Security: the line integrates cameras for complete constant monitoring and 3D scanners to analyze 100% of the glue dispensing, guaranteeing total safety for an Airbag-mounted product.
MAM Flexibility: the line is designed with MAM tech, modules reconfigurable under 5 days, and new features implemented in 5 weeks.
Digital Synergy: total connectivity with Chronos to analyze process data. Maintenance management relies on full synergy with the Chronos MACH module.
The critical eye of an expert operator replicated through artificial neural networks.
Overcoming the Hurdle: Through a cooperative approach, we established a winning collaboration in the study of CNN (Convolutional Neural Networks). Hence, the NOVA project was born.
Operator as a Trainer: We combined tech know-how with UX Design. In NOVA, the operator translates their aesthetic experience into a neural net, empowering the machine to judge complex imperfections with the sensitivity of an expert human eye.
